Half Time in World Poker Tour Season 7
We’re approaching a new year but World Poker Tour is just half way through. Let’s take some time and see what has happened so far in season XII.
Played Events and Winners
Bellagio Cup IV: Canadian Michael Watson won the first event, and he couldn’t have ended up with a tougher heads-up opponent. On the other side of the table sat David Benyamine – the high-stakes mad man – nevertheless, Watson managed to rake in almost $1.7 million.
Legends of Poker: In the second event, Amit Makhija pushed all-in with K-7 and John Phan called with pocket 3s. The treys held up and Phan could add $1 million to his bankroll.
Borgata Open: Rules of pokersay that you don’t want to bet it all pre flop with A-Q, but that was what runner-up Sang Kim did. However, When Vivek Rajkumar showed A-J he was in good shape. But the old statement would ironically be true when a jack came on the flop and Rajkumar took home $1.4 million.
North American Poker Championship: “Gotta win one race,” Gavin Smith told his fans when he was all in on the flop against Glen Witmer’s A-K. Unfortunatly, for Smith, he didn’t. An ace came on the river and $1.2 million was pushed towards Witmer.
Festa Al Lago: Frenchman and Internet poker wizard Bertrand Grospellier (also known as ElkY) won the fifth WPT event of the season. He flopped a set of tens against Nam Le’s A-Q. It held up and Grospellier was $1.4 million richer.
Foxwoods World Poker Finals: Another A-Q sealed the deal at the last WPT final table. Jonathan Little managed to beat Jonathan Jaffe and win $1.1 million.
